The free version is limited to 500 photos. Buying the pro version means: Unlimited photos for your local device storage, and up to 20k photos for the cloud. If 20k isn't enough for you (cloud), you can purchase multiple extra packs, that will increase the limit by 10k each.

You do not have to worry about your privacy. You photos are only cached locally, any home server communication, no analytics!
